Healthcare staff are dying from COVID19 through increased viral load from repeated exposure to coronavirus patients.
We’re working hard to ensure healthcare staff receive the best possible personal protective equipment as quickly as possible. If you can help via donation then please do (click here):
Coronavirus is extremely transmissible, remaining dormant on hard surfaces for 2 to 3 days and aerosolised for up to 4 hours.
Given we haven’t applied stringent testing measures it may be wise at present to assume all patients are suspected of having coronavirus.
We don’t have the adequate type or amount of personal equipment to protect us from becoming repeatedly exposed.
This equipment does exist and is available.
Unfortunately one of the major reasons we don’t have access to it is because healthcare governance policies for PPE created early on did not stipulate the same level of protection indicated by those countries (particularly China) which are successfully managing coronavirus.
Shanghai has a similar population to the whole of Australia yet have only had 2 deaths, approximately 350 positive cases of which 330 have already improved. We would be wise to learn from them.
Below is the level of protection stipulated by Chinese healthcare staff.

Your donation is extremely appreciated (click here) – we will keep you posted on the PPE we obtain and it’s distribution.
Please take a look at this great educational resource (created for Ebola) discussing PPE management from the Centre of Disease Control.
