My state / hospital already has a well established ‘Hospital Emergency Number’ – can we keep it?

From our ongoing survey we noted in some states public hospitals the principle of standardisation has already been implemented to a degree:

Tasmania at 222
Western Australia at 55 (some use 56 and 555)
South Australia at 33#
Northern Territory at ***

Except for the Northern Territory, standardisation does not extend to private hospitals.

We recognise that several states and local health services have gone to great lengths and have performed tremendously in achieving local standardisation. By no means would we want to detract from this work or cause unnecessary confusion – we will work to ensure hospitals are able to retain their existing number alongside the new standardised number ‘2222’ for as long is as deemed appropriate by the institution.
