Hi Chris – the administration sets which stop air entering chambers are a great safety design. Within hospitals these are not used throughout because of workflows. They are not always used in operating theatres – perhaps even within your own hospital – because of rate limits and the need to bolus medication quickly – a function hard to achieve through rate limiting filter giving sets.

IV paracetamol in bags adds an additional level of safety over bottles which will entrain air.
